Institutional Research (IR) at IWU is coordinated by Dr. Michael D. Thompson, Assistant Provost and Director of Institutional Research and Planning.  Working with key suppliers of data such as the Admission, Business, Dean of Students, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Provost's and Registrar's Offices, Dr. Thompson's responsibilities include typical IR functions such as reporting to the federal and state governments, providing information to college guidebooks, and conducting special data-collection and analysis projects for administrators and University committees. Dr. Thompson is also the designated University Assessment Officer and administers IWU's faculty-approved Assessment Plan.

IWU is an institutional member of the Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Consortium, a group of private colleges and universities that exchange statistics and information annually for purposes of planning and improvement. Further information about the HEDS Consortium can be found at
