Pre-Engineering and Dual-Degree Programs\
\
In this program, students study at IWU for three years, taking a basic mathematics, science, and liberal arts sequence, and then spend an additional two years at an engineering school. \ \At the end of the 3:2 program, students have completed at least one major at each institution, and receive two baccalaureate degrees, one from IWU and one from the cooperating institution. \ \Because the 3:2 program is nationally recognized, participating students may combine their IWU work with work at any number of engineering schools, but there are a few institutions, such as Case Western Reserve (Cleveland) and Washington University (St. Louis) with which IWU has made special arrangements. Students who complete their pre-engineering coursework at IWU are essentially assured dual-degree opportunities at these institutions if they maintain a "B" average at IWU. \ \IWU also has special arrangements with Dartmouth College (Hanover, N.H.) and Columbia University (New York City), which facilitate participation in dual-degree engineering programs on those campuses. \ \Of course, students can choose to attend any engineering school; for example, a number of IWU students have completed 3:2 dual-degree programs at the University of Illinois. \ \In addition to the dual-degree program, engineering students may choose to stay at IWU for all four years, earning either a B.A. or a B.S. in one of the more technical majors available on campus. These students routinely go on to prestigious graduate schools for a Masters Degree or Ph.D. Other options also exist and should be discussed with a member of the Pre-Engineering Advisory Committee. \ \For more information, contact: Jerry Pope, Dean of Admissions, Illinois Wesleyan University, P.O.
