In his spare time Fred performs using the stage name “Red Miller” in the classic rock band Knights of Crisis. As keyboard player and singer with Knights of Crisis, Fred has played shows with classic rock legends including Little Feat, Rare Earth, the Guess Who, and Blue Oyster Cult.

Fred founded the official web site for the band Little Feat. He continues to maintain their electronic mailing list: "HoyHoy"
