The church of St. Hilaire, situated along the road to Compostella between
Poitiers and St. Jean d'Angely, was a depedency of the Benedictine priory
at St. Jean. Built in pure Poitevin romanesque
style, this sanctuary utilizes the triple nave
with ambulatory which is characteristic
of pilgrimage churches. St. Hilaire is also famous for its "horseman"
sculpted above the north portal.
