Aulnay - St. Pierre, central portal
The themes illustrated on the archivolts above the central portal are widespread in Romanesque iconography. On the keystone of the lowest arch the paschal lamb is triumphantly carried in a medallion by six angels. Immdiately above is depicted the struggle between vice and virtue. On the third archivolt we find the parable of the wise and foolish virgins, and on the top level, though mutilated in this instance, are the labors of the twelve months interspersed with the signs of the zodiac.
