Ann
Reed
December 9

Ann Reed always comes to the Blue Moon Coffeehouse with songs and stories to lift the heart, challenge conventional thinking and illuminate the pathos and humor in the minutia of daily living---all the while being entertaining and convivial. The musicianship links it all together---no one plays a 12-string with more expertise or warmth. And no one quite walks the talk quite like Ann Reed.
Singer, songwriter Ann Reed's Minnesota Folk style has earned her every major Minnesota music award including Artist of the Year, Folk Singer of the Year and the Alumni fine Arts Award.
Ann's talents include 12-string guitar, mandolin, standup bass, six-string guitar, lap harp and she plays a little piano too.
Ann has performed at world-renowned folk festivals including Bumbershoot and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. She's also gathered a wall full of plaques and trophies from Billboard Magazine and the National Association of Independent Recording Distributors, as well as from numerous nonprofit groups.
Ann's appearances on radio (A Prairie Home Companion, All Things Considered, Mt. Stage), television (Good Morning America), and at special events (with no less than Vice President Gore and 75,000 Girl Scouts in attendance!) have garnered her a loyal and diverse audience.
Her disillusionment with the major record labels in Nashville and LA and the "music scenes" that weren't her style, gave her the push she needed to start her own and appropriately named it A Major Label. Steering her own course lets Ann donate 25% of her time to support nonprofit organizations that primarily benefit women and children (a definite perk of staying out of the clutches of major record labels and music moguls).
