Style and Content Guidelines:

Technical Formatting Requirements

The UER considers it the responsibility of the author to produce an electronic version of his or her article as a readable, high-quality PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format) file, or a Microsoft Word or RTF file that UER can convert to a PDF file, within 3500 KB (3.5 MB). Although the editorial staff can provide some technical support, the support is likely to be limited.

It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format ("PDF") is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have. We will attempt to retain original formatting as far as possible, but we are constrained by the limitations of the software, and we hope that authors will cooperate with us on this front.

Submission Policies

The UER is published annually. The next issue closes on April 30th. Articles which are submitted at least 3 weeks prior to the closing date will be considered for publication in the current issue. There is a rolling submissions policy, therefore submissions received within the three weeks before the closing date will be considered for the next issue.

Although submissions will be accepted throughout the year, reviewing and posting will be carried out from September 1 through April 30. All papers that are accepted for publication and are submitted at least three weeks before the closing dates (April 30th) will be reviewed and posted in that issue.

Submitted articles are assigned to the UER Editorial Board who decides whether the submission should be rejected, accepted subject to revisions, or accepted.

Articles will be published in the UER only if the paper's originality has been verified by a faculty sponsor at the author's institution. We accept articles that have been or will be published in other acknowledged publications.

The UER reserves the right to make minor grammatical corrections and adjustments in the format of the paper, as detailed in the Publication Agreement. We will not make any changes in writing style or content of the accepted paper.

In some cases, the author will be asked by the editorial board to revise and resubmit their paper. The author can, at this stage, withdraw or revise the article for reconsideration by the Editorial Board.
